Loft Conversion
A full loft conversion was carried out to introduce an additional bedroom complete with a private en-suite. This new upper level provides a comfortable and private space within the home, making efficient use of previously unused roof space while increasing the overall value and functionality of the property.

Rear Extension and Internal Alterations
A single storey rear extension was constructed to expand the ground floor and allow for a complete internal reconfiguration. The new layout creates a spacious open plan kitchen, living, and dining area designed to encourage natural flow and improve everyday living.

To further enhance practicality, a dedicated utility room and a separate ground floor W/C were incorporated into the design, providing additional storage and service space while keeping the main living areas uncluttered.

Architectural Features
A striking glazed gable feature was introduced at the rear of the extension. This architectural element allows natural light to flood into the open plan living space while creating a strong visual connection between the interior and the garden.

Bespoke Interior Design
Custom design played a key role in the finished interior. A bespoke media wall was installed within the living space, providing a focal point while integrating storage and entertainment features seamlessly into the design.

The kitchen was also custom built, centred around a bespoke island that doubles as a dining table area. This multifunctional feature encourages social interaction and acts as the heart of the home, combining food preparation, dining, and gathering in one cohesive space.

External Space
To complement the new extension, the external patio area was redesigned and finished with a resin surface. This creates a clean, durable outdoor space that extends the living area into the garden, ideal for entertaining and everyday use.

Project Overview
This project involved a double storey rear extension and full refurbishment of an existing family home on Howard Road. The aim was to increase the living space and improve natural light while updating the house internally and externally. As part of the works, the exterior was finished with a new silicone render to give the property a clean, durable finish.

Design Approach
The extension introduces two glazed gables which bring generous natural light into the new spaces and help connect the interior with the garden. Inside, the refurbishment included the installation of two new staircases and a bespoke balustrade, creating a simple focal point within the house and helping to organise the updated layout. Two new bathrooms were added, along with a dedicated piano room. Bespoke joinery was also incorporated throughout, including bookcase cabinetry and wall panelling.

The layout was reworked to improve the connection to the garden while introducing additional practical spaces, including a utility room and a downstairs shower room.

Design Approach

The new extension forms a bright, open family space. Two flat rooflights were incorporated to bring natural light into the centre of the plan, ensuring the kitchen and living areas remain well lit throughout the day.

Underfloor heating was installed across the ground floor, with LVT flooring laid throughout to create a continuous and practical finish. A new kitchen and utility were installed as part of the works, alongside a brick slip feature wall which adds texture and warmth to the space.

Exposed structural beams were retained within the extension, finished with intumescent paint in a colour selected by the client. This allowed the beams to remain visible while meeting fire safety requirements.

Externally, the rear elevation was finished with a new silicone render while carefully retaining the original brick quoin details.

Internal alterations were carried out to create a larger open plan kitchen and dining space at the rear of the house. The layout was reconfigured to improve flow through the ground floor and strengthen the connection to the garden.

A new structural opening was formed across the rear elevation to accommodate a 5 metre set of aluminium sliding doors, bringing more natural light into the space and providing direct access to the garden.

Design Approach

The refurbishment focused on modernising the house while improving comfort and functionality. A new heating system was installed, including underfloor heating to create an even and efficient source of warmth.

The works also included the installation of a new kitchen as part of the open plan layout, forming the central living space of the house.

Throughout the property, four new bathrooms were introduced, alongside a full programme of refurbishment and redecoration to update the interior finishes.
